hi, is the aa road side assistance any good with a caravan, seems they will help tow van aswell, from what it says in there policy? will not be travaling far this year just need some piece of mind just incase? anyone have this?
I thought the basic assistance would only tow to the nearest garage or a distance of 15 miles or so. Also if there is a fault with either the van or towbar then they are not obliged to help.

agree with above.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
You could also check out Autonational Rescue. Although I've no claims experience, they offer home start and a full recovery service, including for your caravan, for £66 for a 15 month period for new online customers. Their website also refers to Best Buy/Provider awards from Which? & Your Money in 2010.
most recovery policys will only attennd /recover the caravan If it is hitched to the car at the time
CC & C&CC recovery will deal with both the car & the caravan plus if the car needs repairs they will take you & the van to the destination & fetch it back home after your holiday if the car is still not repaired
When I renewed my RAC cover last week, i asked them what I was gaining by having C&CC cover as I can get the standard cover free (part of the deal with the new car). The standard policy will recover both your car and caravan if you have a problem with your car, but they will not come out to a problem with your caravan. They knocked me a bit more discount off so ended paying £78.
It's definitely the top CC Mayday cover for us. Covers virtually everything. They will tow Car and Caravan from anywhere without question + double journey cover if the car is not fixable. My wife and I are both covered as drivers and also covered in another vehicle where we are travelling as a passenger - full cover gets transferred to the vehicle you are travelling in. They will also change a light bulb in the vehicle at home, if required.
I have just looked into this as I have standard AA cover, with this they will only tow you to the nearest Garage within 10 miles. To uprgade to relay they wanted an extra £60 in addition to the £50 paid = £110. We are in the Caravan club so just called for a mayday quote and it's £62 for the same cover as the AA relay it also includes if you breakdown on your way to the site they will take you there and come back to collect you when your holiday is over!! Bargain I have cancelled the AA and gone with Mayday!
