Not heard of those before but just checked the web. The difference between the Sunstore and the Caravanstore is that it can't travel on the van. We have used a Caravanstore for several years and find it quite convenient. I suppose my comment would be to compare it with other canopies to see which suits you. Although it says it comes in a handy storage bag how long is it and would it get in the way if you decide not to use it.

Hi Tonkarav,

Yeah looks similar in use. I think you remove from the awning rail when travelling. Ours stays on the van. We've had our Caravnstore for 6 years, and love it. Rarely use the full awning these days. I use a storm strap everytime to ensure its secure, and (touch wood) have not a weather problem, ie. wind, although I have seen unsecured Caravanstores being blown over the roof of caravans.

Also have applied velcro between the van wall and Caravanstore bag to stop it knocking against the side of the van.

Dan

We have the Caravanstore Zip, similar to the ordinary Caravanstore, but with the possibility to zip on sides and a front.

With these in place it is pretty sturdy. I would not leave up the roof on its own in really strong winds, but it is quick to roll away anyway.

The Sunstore must be new, so I cannot comment on its durability, but the more folding parts there are I would think the more opportunity there will be for things to go wrong.

We've got a caravanstore and only a few weeks ago I posted a thread asking if people found them useful as we were considering one but couldnt think of any valid reason in this country (they dont keep out the draughts & if it's sunny I dont want to be under permanent shade). BUT we bit the bullet & got a 3.1metre one off ebay for £75 and are glad we did, it really is up in a couple of minutes and it's handy for keeping our coolbox, chairs, table & bbq protected if it rains overnight.

I think it's psychological, for some reason it "feels" nice having the canopy up!

I agree!! We have a caravan store which we use for all weekend trips, quick and easy to put up. Yes, as per last comment, there is an element of it being psychological. For some reason it feels better sitting on your chair with a bit of shelter over your head!!! However, you can keep stuff under it over night, and gives some protection from the elements. Also, pretty easy to take off of the rail if going away for longer trips to get the main awning on.
My advice, get one!
