Hi can anyone tell me if its possible to install a shelf in the top of the wardrobe without damaging the walls of our van, Its and Avodale Dart 545 and my other half says it cant be done beacuse the walls are too thin, Many thanks
just done this in the bathroom,if the weight required on the shelf is not too much a shelf can be put in.check thickness of the wall each side.mine were half inch thick.buy some strips of wood one for each side of the shelf 3/4 x 3/4 inch.drill 4 holes in each.the trick is to glue and screw the wood.glue all the way down the wood strips.when dry a quarter inch thick ply can be glued and screwed to the strips and a wood trim tacked onto the front to finish.if more weight is required a strip of 3/4 by 3/4 wood all the way along the rear of the shelf.if its a new caravan don't do it as your warranty will be void.double check your screw length as they can cause unsightly damage if they come through.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.

If he glues runners to the wall and sits a shelf on them it can be.No nails glue is the stuff that i used on my van but its not the same make as yours.
Yes glue a frame around the inners of your wardrobe with some nice planed or sanded wood so it doesnt look out of place to the original wood then use some nice panel wood to make the shelf .So if you come to sell it you can take the shelf out and nobody would notice it was there just the frame would be left ..I have a ? you wouldnt have a old sky card lying about would you LOL HEEE HEEE regards the NUNNY NUTTER hI Dave
