We have purchased a new CRV to tow the tin tent, previously we towed with an Audi. Just tried the rear bike rack only to find it doesn't fit, does anyone use bike racks on their CRV and if so is it roof mounted (And how does it feel with them onto?) or do you have a rear mounted, if so where did you get it from. Sorry for so many questions but we're of to France next Thursday so haven't got much time to shop about.

We take our bikes on the roof as there was no bike rack available at Halfords when I enquired .
Bought a set of Thule roof bars and a twin Halford cycle rack .
We only carry 2 bikes but 3 would be possible as the roof load limit is 75kg

Cheers, thanks for the swift response. I've already got a roof cycle rack so just need to buy the bars as the bars from my previous car are not compatible even if the feet are changed.

The issue I had with my Civic was that the bottow edge of the tailgate was plastic so making a rear mounted clamp on carrier not possible. I thought the CRV had a plastic lower edge to the tailgate too.

For me it is bikes on the roof every time.
