Just a quick question about the dog things you screw into the ground to tether your dogs to,how strong are they, as i have a newfoundland and she weigh's in around just over nine stone but still only a puppy.
We want to take her with us but just dont fancy running through the camp site chasing my dog with the awining attached to her lol.
Are there any other newfi owner's that camp with their dogs and do you use one of these things.
My lab can't pull it out but he's old and dosnt move much, my toy poodle hasn't the strength , my sisters bulldog has managed once to pull it out, they are quite good if really screwed in well.
------------- "I'm a fool for my dogs"
Adopt a rescue, rescue dogs make great pets, don't support puppy farms.
The road can be tough and rough, but what you put in you get back 10 x more.
We have a bull terrier and he pulled it out once but it was in soft ground, they are good but only in good ground, as said before for a dog of your breed I would tether to car because the ground around caravans tend to be rather soft due to the owners putting gravel under top soil to aid draining of water our dog doesn't pull anymore he now knows his limit
I use one for my boxer & keep rope to 2 meters so she cant get any steam up, as a long line gives the dog more power, she has never pulled it out :)
I use a long lead & harness so she dosen't pull on her neck
ssimilar to Here really useful for clipping, un clipping and fastening up when we are on site, great for walking too :)
------------- Smile - There is no such thing as the wrong weather, just the wrong clothing.
Having had a full grown 11 1/2 stone Newfie in the past I wouldn't trust either the Delta tether or the screw in one. I would probably tie to the car or van. He would quite happily lie around all day but if he wanted to go somewhere then not a lot stopped him and I can't see either doing the job!

Hi all.
This one made me laugh
Its not a screw down thing your needing for a nine stone pup its a lamp post
i tried tethering her to the 3 seater garden swing but she could pull that across the patio,so i might try and use the wheel clamp and hope that holds.

I believe (though not tried myself) that the Delta one has been tested to hold 30 stone!
The shock loading exerted on the anchor would be several times the dog's own weight, so I don't think 30 stones would be enough for a large dog such as a Newfie.
