I've just got back from a weekend away and this morning opened up the fridge to find that it's not working :( the green power light is on and I have it connect to the house but still it's not getting cold any tips on what to try would be much appreciated .

Is your caravan totally level where its standing ?
Try it on gas to eliminate it's an electrical fault.
Get the hoover out and get it underneath. It's scary how much dust/dog hair Etc can gather under the bottom (open the door and you get better access)
Just making suggestions before you call someone out.

Was it working on gas while you were away? mine has a tendency not to work until I've fiddled about with the gas knob and settings (can't see where the 'off' for gas is on mine). Only after some swearing it will start on EHU.

And the same when I've had it on EHu and want to run it on gas!

If it has worked very recently you have 2 possibilities first: the van is not level at the moment, test by trying it on gas
second: the 230v heating element has gone (around £30 to buy)

Thanks for the replies. I have never used it on the gas when I came home tonight I switched the gas on and switched the fridge to gas and touch wood it seems to be working . I also checked the fuse.someone said on some vans there is a switch ? But I never found it lol. But going from what you guys are saying the element may have gone. As for being level yes it was all set up on site level. the fridge model is a Dometic if that helps.Where would you recommend to buy a element ? Also do you think its worth me calling someone out.

Ahh.. if the light is not coming on that could be a lack of power.

Go to your power board - sometimes called a Zig unit check this out, does it have a switch for the fridge? is it on? is the main power switch on this unit on? - some of these units (the ZigCF9 for one) have a plug in the back - has it become disconnected? this is the fridge feed

check the fridge again tonight and it doesn't have a bulb . Some i'm quessing there is a fult somewhere . Ive checked the fuses and they all seem to be fine none blown.

The element, if it is the problem, is available from several places, try Ebay too. You need to know your model number.

It is easy to replace, but to do it you will need to remove the screws holding the fridge in place, I should think disconnect the gas pipe, and pull the fridge out.

When refitting you need to ensure you seal it properly round the flue/vents again.

Thanks for all of your advice ive ordered a new element now i think the fun will start trying to get the fridge out to replace the element lol. Are there any tips of removing the fridge or will it be stright forward .

Updates lol well i went and brought a new element after 2 hours of getting the fridge out and taking the exhaust off the back of the fridge to try and get the element out and fit the new one it still doesn't work

Do you know mine does that. Works then doesn't. We were away in half term & had it on ehu before we went & it worked fine. Got to site put it on EHU & it wouldn't work. Put it on gas worked fine! Left it a day or so then tried it on EHU & it worked!! Very odd. It to is a Dometic. The only thing I can think of is something is moving or getting dislodged whilst travelling, then it needs to settle
