Hello again, if I order a porch awning (I like the Kampa fiesta) why are upright or back poles optional? Do you need them or not, what added function do they do?

Thanks as you can tell I'm new to all this

We have the Kampa 260, and bought optional upright poles and the optional monsoon poles for the roof. I would guess they are not included to keep the initial costs down so owners can addthem if they wish later. \the monsoon poles stop pooling on the roof and the rear uprights keep the sides tighter to the van then they would otherwise be.

I have a Kampa Fiesta 350 and we generally don't use the rear poles.  My wife generally pegs that bit and she does it very tight to the van.  We haven't found a great difference between using the poles or not.  The other thing is that the awning does cut across one of our windows so we prefer not to use a pole here.

Sorry to butt in.  We have used a Fiesta 350 now for about 18 months and have never had pooling (therefore have not bought the .monsoon poles).  I think if you pegg out tight enough then it should be OK.  It might, of course, depend on the contour/height of your van.  I suppose  slightly different dimension could make a difference.

Hope you have a good time when you get away, and that you find the Fiesta works for you.  We hardly ever use the window blinds on ours.  In fact we keep them rolled down all the time.  When we fold the Fiesta we take the panels out ( - you don't have to, just our preference) - we even fold the panels with the blinds rolled down - saves us having to do in next time we put it up.

The next time we use our Fiesta (probably October Half Term now as we'll use the full awning over the summer), I'm hoping to change the wing nuts on the roof poles for some of these, if they fit: Gripons (bottom half of the page in link).  My hands are large and I find wing nuts a bit fiddly.  See how you get on and if I can do anything to help, please ask.  If I'm away from UKCS, then my email address is always at the bottom of my posts.  Let us know how you get on.

Best wishes,
