If you  need help ask especially if you see a similar unit. Folks are pretty good on sites where help is concerned . A lot of the time we have not even had to ask they just offer an fif they cannot do it they have  given us a cuppa instead. Dont sit and suffer ask.

We only run our fridge on EHU after all you pay enough for it use it. Just remember the golden rule do NOT use two hefty electrics at the same time. So if you have a micro  wave do not use an electric kettle. We made sure we never do over load the electrics by only using one plug hole for those bigger items that way you always remember to pull out one for the other.

Enjoy yourselves we do great life had 9 weeks already and off on Sept 7th for another 4-6 weeks

I think we al have our own way of setting up and we all have reasons for it.

the first thing i do is look at getting level so grabbing the leveling gear (blocks etc that are always the last to go away so easy to grab)

then i take all stuff thats traveled in caravan out so the my helper (wife son daughter who evers on hand really) can set up/set out inside and get the kettle ready

i then do electric followed by water - water pump.and waste. lastly i do gas.carefully connecting gas bottle up and giving regulator a nip up tight to prevent any leaks.

lastly awning goes up followed by awning tent and unloading of car if i feel the need.

normally by this point the kettles boiled and cuppa's ready

as for doing it wrong other than fitting awning inside out then no theres nothing you can do wrong (to agree that it will cause any harm or damage) i always quickly check no gas leak from bottle while grabbing bits from front locker (so far never had a leak of any kind.

but please remember if your stuck and need advice 99.9% of caravaners will gladly show off there wisdom and give you a helping hand in hope of a quick chat.

nothings to hard and youll soon pick it up and be helping the newbie thats just pulled in next to you looking for help..

last time i had a problem with water pump several caravaners were soon on hand to offer there advice.

We level the caravan together, then hubby winds down corner steadies while I take the dog for a quick walk in case she needs to "go".  When I get back I fill up aquaroll & attach pump while he's sorting the gas. Then I fill the toilet while he attaches EHU if necessary, then the fridge goes on.  Kettle starts boiling  while I'm bringing stuff in from the car & he's sorting the poles for porch awning. Time for a cuppa then we get the awning up. I finish off putting clothes & food away & setting up table & chairs in the awning while he's pegging out. Our 10 year old sometimes helps with the water & the dog but gets bored quite easily so she tends to sit in the car while we're busy or if we're on a meet she's off on her bike to see who is around.

That list is pretty much the same as mine, except that my 2nd task is adding security (hitchlock, wheelclamps etc)!

And the awning figures somewhere before the cup of tea!

What's all this fillling the toilet (top & bottom) ???  Don't you guys fill the flush tank thingy with water before you set off ?  If not why not ?

I can only guess it's cos of extra weight so extra fuel ....

My Toilet lives right at the back of the caravan and takes 14 odd litres of water

That's potentially 14kg of additional weight right at the back, i empty my flush / poo tank completely before i tow

Thanks little basher.  Our last caravan just drew it's flush water from the aquaroll so I hadn't given this any thought.  Will be sure to just put in enough for a flush or 2 (in case we need to `go' on the journery) then instead of filling right up.

One more thing though - why are people saying fill `top & bottom' ?

ps sorry for hi-jacking your thread OP !

You need the flush water for the top tank, plus a couple of litres of water in the 'poo' tank (mixed with the blue chemical) to break down your 'offerings'!

Of course, the 'top' tank may not actually be above the bowl - it depends which model of toilet you have (the bench style toilets have the flush water tank incorporated into the bench)

After levelling the caravan and putting the corner steadies down, I pretty much always go fill up the Aquaroll with fresh water, fit the water pump, turn on the taps and ensure that water is flowing properly.

I always leave the connection of the EHU until last. I worry that if I connect the the EHU first and the water last, then sooner or later I'm going to have forgotten to swtich off the water heater, the hot water tank is going to be empty and I might burn out the immersion heater.

Hubby & I have our own little tasks, he does all the outside stuff & I get the inside ready, saves time & arguments if you're apart

One thing is to make sure you know where your fuse box is, for some reason ours is sometimes "tripped" when we set up & the first time didnt know where it was & spent ages rummaging around under the beds only to find it was at the back of the wardrobe covered under a pile of shoes.

our tin tent trips usually go something like this.........arrive on site, find pitch, position 'van, put down the legs, then me and the OH frequently have a row over who's doing what , which ultimately ends up with my good lady traipsing off to take the dog for a walk while I , A/ attach the EHU, B/ attach the water pump, C/ turn on the gas, D/ fill the aquaroll, E/ fill the potaloo flush tank etc, F/ put up & peg out the porch awning, G/ set up the tv & sat' dish, H/ get out the camping chairs. I/ attach the waste water tank,  all this normally takes about an hour

then I  sit back with a cold tinney from the cool box, which is usually about the time the missus comes back with the mutt, and says sweetly 'you've forgotten to turn the fridge on again'

one day i'm just going to turn the fridge on and forget the rest
