Right next week we are off for a 2 week holiday in the van. We have never been away in it for longer than a week at a time before. We have 2 boys aged 4 and 1 who seem to attract dirt.
My question is do you take 2 weeks worth of clothes or travel light and use the laundry on site half way through the holiday???
We wash and hang, that way we only get ripped off once for the washer rather twice for the washer and the dryer. The caravan has been known to look like Widow Twankey's.....
Get some wet suits and hose em down now and again. When our kids were young we always said we are on holiday and no washing. I used to watch people in launderettes for hours and I thought what a waste of holiday time.

Just take a short length of hosepipe. Attach to tap on site. Use rock pegs through kids' shoes and hose them down.
Surely the question is how inherently "dirty" are the clothes or are they covered in good, clean honest mud? They won't die even if they wear the same clothes for the whole fortnight.
I wash on site, mainly because we are away for 5 weeks in the summer hols. This time stopping in the uk ( 3 weeks )but will still wash on site, hate taking a pile of dirty clothes home with us.
get one of the single or twin tub washers . i use a single tub and an old mangle. my mate as the twintub version works a treat .the spinner on the twintub is brill. mind we do go for 6 months do bedding and everything . cheers alan.
I do one wash during the holidays and use the dryers - they are pricey but it gets it over and done with.
You don't need to stay there so, pop it in, back to van and the bung it in the drier.

£12 is very expensive. The CC charge £3 for a wash. Dryer is something like 20p for 10 minutes.
We have one of the little twin tubs now as we do 3 month trips, but for the double duvet cover, large towels and OH's jeans we need to use the site washer. Never use the dryer, just hang stuff on the little rotary airer. If wet, we put it up in the awning.
I do a wash on site, that way I dont have to return home with 2-3 loads of washing, plus it might be more expensive than home but you might only use it the once.
OH frequesntly washes on site and does it by hand - uses a bucket, I think. We also have another bucket for soaking. Always keep a couple of handwash liquid in the van. We're away for about 5 weeks and will only take about a weeks worth of clothes.
If the worst comes to the worst we will use site equipment, but thid doesn't happen often.
The commercial machines that the CC has on its sites do a wash in about 30 minutes, but I have found that sometimes they do not rinse the clothes properly, so I only use them when absolutely essential.
