We love our caravanning trips, but it dawns on me that there are a couple of things I don't generally like that much. Fortunately these things are not specific to caravanning - it would be the same whatever sort of holiday we go on.
My least favourite thing is the couple of days immediately before we go. Getting the house tidy, getting the clothes ready (any extra washing), packing the things that are not already in the caravan (especially as the caravan is in storeage) - it's the clothes and personal items (the rest is in the van anyway). Hoovering out and packing the car. Making sure the house is secure, emptying bins, making sure nothing is left in the fridge that might go off etc. Against we are ready to go we are usually well and truely kna**ered.
By this time youv'e probably guessed what my other least favourite thing is. Getting back. Opening all the mail, emptying things out of the van that need emptying, washing, etc. Getting back is never quite as difficult.
If we only go away for a weekend it's not too bad, but if it's for 5 weeks then the pressure becomes greater.
What are your least favourite thing? Perhaps we migt have answers to each others problems.
getting ready (same list as you lol) and the actual route to the site (incase we get lost !! I hate it )
coming back has to be the stinky washing (never worried about getting lost on the way home !!!)
Isn't it funny how we get the house really tidy then go away?
I wouldnt say it's my least favourite but I've got a dislike about winding the legs, just a job i hate for some reason. I also hate tidying all the stuff in the awning away before we dismantle it.
I am the same as you David.
I hate to leave a untidy house, i spring clean top to bottom, then on the morning of the holday i have my check list and i go through each room ticking it off the list.
It is lovely to come home to a tidy house but its never tidy for long though.
|My least favourite thing was the same as DSBs but now the kids stay at home its coiming back to see what mess they've left! They do tidy up but their idea of tidy certainly isn't mine!

Yes! We're in the same boat this time. Son in mid twenties is house-sitting this time. Goodness help us!! In fact it hardly seems worthwhile tidying before we go.
Same as you David, the getting ready, I rush around like a blue a***d fly tiding up the house!!!! I love to walk into a tidy house.
Bit off topic but when I get home I don't know if it's the lack of space in a caravan but I walk in and flap my arms spin around and think ahhh space again lol, I love my caravan alot but it's nice to have some quiet space again lol.
------------- "I'm a fool for my dogs"
Adopt a rescue, rescue dogs make great pets, don't support puppy farms.
The road can be tough and rough, but what you put in you get back 10 x more.

Wished our house was a quiet space. We've only got to be back five minutes - it's as if someone has sent a smoke signal up. The phone starts first and then, the door goes. Letters, emails - it all starts.
Coming back home after having a great time...then its emptying out the van and everything else thats normal routine. Looking forward to day when i can retire and enjoy caravanning whenever I like. Moan over. Thanks

Same for me all the preparation before we get to go away, usually stressed to the max by the time we are ready. Also can't stand making our bed every night. Would love a fixed bed but the finances don't at the moment. Still can't wait to get away next week tho !!!
Mines the first five minutes of Towing, then relaxed I enjoy the rest of my Hols! Oh by the way that first five minutes starts in 8 hours time 'Yippee' John,
------------- Life is our Holiday enjoy it before its time to go back!
Least favorite is coming home to find cars parked left right and centre, Then unhitching in the middle of the road and trying to manovere the van in the drive as other cars are tooting there horns . Stress comes and I gestulate with two well aimed fingers. Oh joy...lol.
------------- live for today as tomorrow ma never come.
