hi I recently was asking about porch awnings (another thread on here) & am now really keen on one that andcow told me about - the Outdoor Revolution Techlite. ...  but I can't seem to find one that has a fibreglass single pole,  just metal poles.

This is the info ancow gave me ....

The techlite only has one pole in place that is threaded through the outside and then bent into postion in the same way you do with many dome/tunnel tents so is a very lightweight fibreglass pole system. Just peg it down after that. Once the awning is zipped on you can actually leave it attached when you take   down the unit though you do take out the poles of course. this would be really good if you only intend to use the porch.

Can anyone tell me what this particular Techlite one is called  please ?  Or if perhaps it's been discontinued now ?

So far on googling I've seen Techlite 1 and also Techlite Pro ones but they both seem to come with metal poles,  and I'm not sure if they'll differ in other ways too.

ps - this was the other thread....

I reckon the model you've been quoted hasn't necessarily been discontinued, but revised as the manufacturers seem to improve their awnings for each season almost.

I'm sure the current Techlite has a steel pole and in my opinion this is a better option. Size wise, it's very similar to the one you've been recommended.

If you specifically want the one mentioned in the other post, probably 2nd hand is going to be your only route, otherwise check out the online retailers for the best price on the current Techlite.
See current Techlite Pro here

I like Outdoor Revolution porches (I've got two) and I'm sure you'll find the Techlite will serve you well.

Ok & thanks a lot Paul.   I had fancied the fibreglass option as was thinking it would be easier to thread through as well as being lighter.  However I suppose the metal pole would give a more solid structure (iykwim ?) & it's not like we're going to be back packing with it ....   so on reflection I'm sure you're right it will likely be better. !

Thanks again

I've had several fibre-glass porch awnings (still got one) and they're fine, but for the bigger porches like this Techlite, you'd be far better with the steel pole. They're still lightweight as the pole is a single frame round the front only, and they aren't the heavy-duty poles that you might expect.

Suprisingly, Outdoor-Rev haven't mentioned the weight of this model on their website, but I'll investigate.
