Hi all,

I am new to caravanning and purchased a lovely 1992 Abi award superstar about a month ago, when i bought it i was told everything was in working order, so we went away for the weekend in it, i could not get the boiler to fire up, on bring it home i did some wiring to the boiler and managed to get it to fire up only to find that the water started to pump out of the tank, thought there might be air in the system but could not find anywhere to bleed it, then had a thought maybe the pump was not circulating the water so took the out hose of and water was trickling out, i them took the pump off and tested it on the battery nothing, so back to internet to find a pump they were £112 + vat for Alde which i could not afford, did a bit more digging well alot and managed to find a pump alot cheaper, fitted it on friday and we now have HOT water and heating, success at last, quite proud of myself for sorting it out and all without the help of a man.

An acheivement makes you feel great. It is something that when you have done it you can punch the air and do  a great shout of YES!!!!!!! I did it.

Hi allycath1, Congratulations on your new van, and well done on the heater and pump problem, a lot of males I know would have had no idea where to start, or for that matter know how or what to do, the technical side of things is not a male only environment, you have proved that. It is surprising the cost of things can kick start the brain to say, (What if / How can I ).Well done to you all.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments. Now i just have to replace the taps as the microswitch on the hot in the bathroom has gone and the cold in the kitchen. Then everything is done, well i hope.

Now see what you started, making us poor blokes look a bit useless, and us tying to make thing hard so we would not be completely redundant. go for it.
