If you have a water filter, try taking it out and see if its better - otherwise is the shower head blocked?

Or maybe the pipe kinks when you take it down?

Powerful enough so you don't have to run around to get wet.

If you have a large blue cap next to your pump connection the filter is under that. It could be that you need a pump with a better flow rate. Do you get a good flow from your taps?

If now problem with filter try to measure the flow rate from the shower head by filling a 10l bucket and timing it. Measure the same way direct from the pipe at the back of the water inlet or the downstream side of the pressure switch/damper and see what the difference is. If any big difference it is down to a restriction of flow somewhere in the system which could be the shower head but beware that if the flow through the head is too great you will run out of hot water before you get wet! Caravan showers have to take the happy balance of getting you wet but at the same time not using so much water that you run out of hot or cold water before you have finished showering.

The normal Truma/Filtapac water inlet and filter assembly has one filtered outlet for drinking water, and another for unfiltered water to go to the hot water system. The unfiltered connection is normally blanked off, you have to cut the end off to use it, like a tube of sealer.

If you are pumping through the filter for ALL water then the flow rate will be lower.

We are just installing a new filter head tonight, and just after it arrived we found the old (good) one we had!

Sounds as if he needs to adjust the pressure switch.Turn on the bathroom wash hand basin tap,is the pressure low ? We had the same problem with pressure to the shower head.

The pressure switch is usually located under the front bunk, the side where your pump is. It may look like this

Asuming you dont have any micro switches here is how you adjust it.
To set the pressure switch turn it fully clockwise home, open a tap near by fully.turn the pressure switch very slowly anti clockwise until you have a good flow and the switch has just started clicking.turn tap off and the clicking should stop.

OP......please say which van you have. Do you have microswitches or pressurised system? What type of shower head do you have?

You can change your pump, but you cannot add an extra one.

You do need to remember it's a caravan, you cannot expect a "power shower". But conversely, it almost stopping when you take the shower head down is totally wrong.

Hello, we had a similar problem in our van, it was due to the wrong type of spray head fitted. Due to the low flow from a caravan pump, 7 litres per minute, the combined area of the holes in the shower head must be small so that the pressure in the system will reach an acceptable level to give a spray. The pressure is approximately inversly proportional to the flow, therefore the smaller the out flow area the higher the pressure and the better the spray.
The capacity of the pumps used in caravans is quoted as for instance 7 l/min - 20 psi. However the flow rate is when you have a fully open tap, and the max pressure is when you have a nearly fully closed tap.

I am not clear why the spray should be less when you lift the head down, as simple physics dictates the opposite.
Our old shower head had 54 x 1.50 mm dimater holes = 95 square mm (and was useless), the new one has 24 x 0.95 mm diameter holes = 17 square mm, bliss!!
