We had fixed carpets in our old van & I swore I'd hate the lino floor but am a convert, it's so much easier to keep clean, a quick sweep & spray & it's sparkling whereas with the carpet I had to hoover it & shampoo any mud out. I don't think it's cold either, it seems to absorb the warmth.

We had pale blue/grey 3 piece carpet which quickly showed every mark, have replaced with mottled brown/beige Marvel Mats from Dunelm, but I still vacuum most days as we don't put up an awning and grass gets everywhere. Why do caravan carpets only come in solid colour and not patterned or mottled?
We always leave ours in, just careful to take wet or muddy shoes off, and give them an occasional brush on site,
Hoover when we get home and clean with the carpet cleaning machine (rug doctor) about 4 times a year when we hire it for the house. It makes the caravan feel more cost and warmer. Personally can't see the point of having them and not using them ( unless of course you have a dog in which case it makes sense to leave them out.
In summer main carpet is left under the double bed but in cooler weather it is down together with under carpet heating. In the summer I have a couple of lightweight mats that will wash out easily. I like to keep the carpets in the 'van as I can then put them down if turn cooler or if 'royalty' (brother and sister-in-law) turn up as she could not be seen to have stood on anything so common as vinyl flooring!

I've just taken ours up as off to the South of France on a sandy site which I know will drive me mad. Hubby hates it though so I'm pretty sure they'll be back down as soon as we're back from our trip.
even though we have a little yorkie, our carpet stays in all year round, in fact we've just replaced it ( only so it matches the rest of the new decor, OH has a thing for re-decorating the tin tent, she's done it twice now and we've only had it just over a year ),
keeping it clean's not been a problem thus far as shoes come off before entering the 'van and left in the awning , as for the mutt ,he's rubbed down in the awning too before he's allowed in.
we don't have carpet in the toilet or kitchen areas though for ease of cleaning etc
------------- no tin tent outings booked as yet ,just another cruise in Sept' booked so far
For first time ever we took out our carpets on our recent holiday. Put down some mats, much easier to clean with our two labs especially when they had been to the beach.
