yes there are free caravans around (not many but some are)

I for one gave a fully working caravan away last year due to a damp wall and didnt have the time to repair.

look on freecycle and such places and consider dropping a leaflet or 2 about to the houses that have caravans sat on there drive that appear not to have moved for a while. youll be suprized on what you find..

many build adventure caravans . strip it right back to the chassis then build a steel frame adding strength etc . pulled behind landrovers ,landcruisers etc. so long as you dont exceed the axle weight any thing is possible . all the exteria panels ar a vailable , talk to a truck body builder . all the trim stuff to finish off is quite cheap.

as for resale build what you want dont sell it. look for one with a nice shaped fibre glass roof you cant go wrong. replace the wood frame with steel box or angle . adds weight but much stronger. aluminium would be nice but comes more expensive. cheers alan.
