Usually within your external battery box there is the connection for the hook up. Switch off the electric control panel in your van and then connect the cable into the battery box. Then connect to the power point (usually on a bollard). Never do it the other way round as you will be carrying a live cable to your van. Once connected (on CC sites you have to turn the connector to the right at the power point) then switch the caravans control panel back on. That connects the mains in your van. Other electrical equipment e.g lights/pump will probably run off your battery and there should be a separate switch to switch all of those on. Usually on a wall near the door with other controls
