Our warranty runs out on our 2004 caravan at the end of August , the warranty company has sent a reminder to extend if wanted by us . My question is it worth it? its £300 for a further 12 months

I'd check the small print very closely as to just what is covered and how much you'd have to spend each year on top of the warranty cost to enable the warranty to be valid

Spot on Mr Rune. £300 for one year seems a bit much

As already said, read it very carefully. I expect there is a requirement for annual servicing of everything including bodywork inspection etc. Typically, they will look for any reason not to pay in the event of a claim.

Seems very expensive to me. You can buy a warranty on a car for much less.

Try to shop around as insurance companies tend to rely on renewals paying what they ask and giving the best deals to new customers.

Get the caravan thoroughly checked over by a mobile service engineer especially for damp and if anything crops up, get it done under the warranty.
Cheaper than paying the £300. Put the £300 aside in your own bank account in case of an emergency, but get the caravan checked over on a regular basis at least once a year.

Agree with the other posts about reading what exactly is covered under the 12 month warrenty.  With household goods i don't bother getting the extended warrenty because they are so expensive but £300 to warrenty a caravan doesn't sound so expensive but it isn't actually covering you for what you would expect it to.

What warrenty do you have at the moment?  And does this policy cover all of that?

Definetely get it checked out NOW while it is still under the warrenty and get any problems fixed and decide then whether its worth getting the warrenty extended for another year.

Like earlier posts say,You have to have everything serviced that is Servicable. You'll also find that things that were covered in the past tend not to be covered the following year. Also remember that the warranty is with the Dealer not the Manufacturer and a few dealers have either gone to the wall or could be struggling.

I have seen warranties from £245.00 for 2 years but I don't know how good they are.

As it has already been said some Warranties simply are not worth it.

I'm dubious about any warranty other than the original manufacturers one.

I have had to claim on a car warranty (manufacturers) in the past for small things and never had a problem - the one time I tried to claim on the 3-month warranty I was given as part of the deal when buying my current car (from a 3rd party company, unrelated to manufacturer or dealer), there were so many exclusions that I had no chance. Waste of the paper it was written on...
