We're buying a second hand caravan from a dealer, who told us, that we can only collect Monday - Friday, not at weekends as their workshop is closed. We found this a bit odd, and after a bit of a fight they have agreed to a Sunday as long we go before they open.
Is this usual at dealers?
Thanks

This is normal you are better going during the week as if something is wrong the workshops are open and there are more staff than at weekends when only salestaff are there and a handover can take up to two hours (ours did)

When we went to collect a van the motor mover did not work (and it was brand new) so one of the lads in the workshop came out and put a new circuit board in. Good customer care to have the van collected when someone can be around to fix things.
Then weekends can be very busy with selling vans. From a business perspective, focussing your limited staff on selling a van is more important that spending time sending out a van that has already been sold! As Geoff said it can up to two hours or more for a handover. During that time you can sell quite a number of vans instead!!!

Yes I think it is normal. We paid the deposit on our ranger this week and were asked if we could collect it between Tuesday or Thursday. Althought they could do other days they were honest and said these are quite days for them and they could also hook it up to the water and electrics and give us a full working hand over which does take some time. As we don't need it for a few weeks they are holding it for us till the end of August. Enjoy the new van.
I think this is the norm , they are busiest at weekends, and have more time in the week to do the proper handover .

The road can be tough and rough, but what you put in you get back 10 x more.
Thanks - it wasn't something we had considered and unfortunately neither of us can get there during the week for the next month or so (it's about 2 hours away from us, so we can't just "nip" there!) so they have agreed to do it first thing on a sunday before they open so they have time to do the hand over.
