Hi, we have just bought a caravan with a fanmaster gas/electric heater 3600stc. There are two square panels side by side, one is the control with all the buttons for gas, fan, on, off and the knob to turn the heater up and down, and the other just has an on / off switch with a red light when it is on and says fanmaster across the top, can anyone tell me what the second panel does? he heater seems to work with out the second panel switch on as we will only be using it on electric.
I can post a picture if needed
thanks!
(the canravan is a 1996 lunar planet if that makes any difference)

The second one turns the 240v element on and off (only used when on hookup). You don't need this on if you are using gas for heating.

Thanks for quick reply, just to try to understand what you are saying, the van is at present connected to our house via the orange cable (the same one used if we are on site) so do you mean if I dont put that switch on, the heater will be running on the van battery only, and if I do put it on it will be running on the mains electric?
sorry to sound dim, we have never owned a caravan before and are trying it out at home before we go onsite!

The one with the switch and red light turns on the electric element for the heater, the second panel selects (well it did on ours) what fuel you are using, temperature setting and how fast the fan runs.

The actual heating cannot run from the battery, only gas or mains electric. The fan runs from the battery.

A picture would help!

The heating elements will only run from the 240v from your hookup cable. The fan will run from the 'van's battery but it will only blow cool air around unless you have the element switch on.

If you have no hookup you need to have the gas fire on to get some heat, then the fanmaster blows the warm air around via the ducts (hence the different settings on the fanmaster control panel).

Thanks for the replies, I get you now!
will post a pic tomorrow, just incase, but I think I understand, that is why when I put the fan on it worked but it blew cold air and did not get warm! will try tomorrow with the other switch on and see if it warms up, then I will know!
will post the outcome tomorrow afternoon
thanks again

here is a photo of my fanmaster switches, it was the one on the left I was not sure what it was for, but I think I understand now that you need to turn the switch on the left on, it heats up and then select the speed of the fan from the switch on the right hand?

Thats right.

The thermostat only works if you use the auto settings though. On auto the fan will run fast until the temp you set is reached, then slow down/ speed up to maintain that temperature. The slow setting just stays slow.

The electric element only comes on if you are using the fan, whereas you can use the gas fire with or without the fan.
