It is very windy outside. We have got the awning as tight as we can but the poles are still banging and doing alot of creaking. Have we got it set up right or is this normal??
What type of awning do you have? Is it a full traditional metal pole type or a lightweight one with flexible poles? or is it a porch type which is not fitted very well to the sides of the van, and thats whats causing it to creak and bang?
Do you have all your guy ropes pegged out and your storm straps fitted?

Ok. Poles are tight and not bouncing off van. It sounds like we are in an old wooden ship lol. You can feel the van moving with the pull of the awning.

It may still be worth checking under the cups, we always fit ours tight but when we took the awning down after some high winds the cups had marked the side of the van, we now put sponges between the cup & the van sides.
We always had problems with our aluminium poles on our bradcot, you could never keep them tight and hence would always end up banging against the caravan

We have got a bradcott. What did you do to stop it?
