no i mean can you buy a special connector that makes them just plug into a 12volt socket, as ive got a tv that has been converted but i want one now with free view built in, an the ones we have been lookin at are all 240 an you just buy a special lead!!1 so im thinking are most tv now able to be converted with using an inverter??
The inverter has a 12v cig lighter plug on it as well as a 240v socket , just plug your tv into to the 240v socket on the inverter.

Simple answer is if TV runs on 12v from a transformer then to run off caravan 12v system you need to have a regulator that can be purchased specifically for the purpose. The regulator makes sure the voltage stays at 12v. Check with the manufacturer of the TV as most supply the suitable regulator. Kogan have some very good prices on 12/240 TV's at the moment.

Some (a few) TV's have a mains lead that ends in a "power pack" which puts out 12 volts, and is then in turn connected to the TV. So in theory you could do without the mains lead with power pack, and just plug your TV straight to the battery - DON'T DO IT!
The supply from batteries apparently can be unstable and produce "spikes", which could blow your TV. It is possible to buy voltage stabilisers from such places as Maplins to fit between the battery and the TV - this is the safest (and only sensible) way to do it.
The other method is as said; get an inverter, which connects to the battery and then produces 240 volts at a standard mains-type socket, to which you would then connect your TV, using its normal mains lead and plug.
