Hi,
we have a Suncamp porch awning that we bought last year and have only used twice. both times, in slightly breezy conditions (not v. windy at all) the awning has pulled out of the rail. our main awning has no such problem. any suggestions what we could do to stop this? reluctant to give up on it, and we've had it too long to go back to retailer.
thanks
john.
I had this once with my suncamp scenic and ended up putting some gaffer/duct tape along the bit you put in the Awrning rail to pack it out abit. Never came out again in the wind/breeze

Thanks Rob, I'd thought about doing this but assumed that all the manufacturers would be using the same awning bead tape.
Since yours was a suncamp too, it seems too much of a co-incidence. Is this a common problem with this manufacturer? Ours is a Suncamp Swift. Have other found these to be OK?
our porch awning is a sunncamp scenic plus and it had some fairly heavy winds to contend with at arisaig last week but we never had a problem with it pulling out.
THe gaffa tape idea's a good one, i'll bear it in mind should the problem ever arise for us.
Maybe your old awning has widened the rail when it has been pulled with the wind ? If you get a rubber hammer try closing the gap just a wee bit and do it carefully as not to over close it.

good to hear. a bit exposed at arisaig, but the sunsets can be amazing.

Thanks Jeff. I'm not noted for my dexterity with a hammer, I'll have a look at the weekend.
You can buy or make a spacer for the gap in the awning rail. Old ones will spread over time, because it is soft metal. I "readjusted" mine with a piece of plywood in the gap and a rubber mallet. Not had a problem since. It was my full NR awning that started pulling out one end during high winds at Arisaig coincidentally. It's been fine since. This is on a 1990 Swift Corvette, so the rail is elderly.

thanks for the insight. hammer it is then. using some ply as a spacer seems like a good idea. thanks again.

our tin tent is a '92 avondale ,our awning rail is also quite elderly, i went down the rubber mallet route too but instead of ply wood i opted for a shortish length of small diameter dowling
------------- no tin tent outings booked as yet ,just another cruise in Sept' booked so far
