The windings on some transformers can oscillate and hum, even after some years of use. The hum could however also indicate a slight increase in load due to a weak battery. Have you had the battery checked recently? Try disconnecting one pole of the battery (make sure you keep it safely insulated) and see if the charger 'hum' changes. If it becomes less, you may have a weakened battery.

That could well be the problem then. The battery will also act as a capacitor to dampen out any surges in the current. It could well be that the current draw is fluctuating which will be causing the oscillation in the charger.

Some things work properly only if a battery is connected. Try it with a good battery in place.

I think we need some more detail then, as the assumption was that you had problem with the charger/12v unit commonly found in vans to charge battery and run 12v accessories; it would seem this isn't the case.
What exactly is it your using?

I have a Burstner which also comes without a battery and yes you do get a hum from the transformer,it'snot very loud but it can be a bit annoying during the night. There's not much you can do about it other than put some sound proofing around it but not too close or it may overheat. They are designed to work without a battery connected and all transformers will hum to a greater or lesser degree depending on the load at any one time.

Mine is situated underneath the base of the wardrobe so it was easily done I just stuck some polystyrene under the base of the wardrobe and to the sides of the base,I can still just about hear it in the middle of the night but I've learned to live with it.

Hi we have the Adria Altea 542 UK and this also did not come with a charger, and yes come to think of it the consumer does humm, but never though much of it, as some of the chargers we have for laptop and phones also humm. Our consumer unit is in the wardrobe, so packing with cloths makes it dimmer, but can definitely be hared when the door is open.
Dont think its anything to worry about. I like you have a smart charger for the battery, which is never connected when on EHU, as it wasnt meant to have a battery anyway.
hope this helps
