i've read shed loads of conflicting reviews on this kit and reception, some say great, some say useless ...

If anyone has this kit AND has successfully got/gets a good reception in scotland, please post here with location etc, cheers :)

I've got one, and it works well from North Wales down to Cornwall, but have not tried in Scotland yet. Going from the "Dishes" section here (scroll down), a larger (60cm) dish is needed for Scotland. I've also got a 60cm dish and that also works for me (with the rest of the Aldi kit), but as said (somewhere) on the above site it's a bit harder to target than the smaller dish!

My Aldi set worked perfect at Linwater caravan site at Livingston although I use my own dish which is 60cm.

I recall a recent thread involving these kits and several Op's from within Scotland had difficulty with them and they were duly returned.
As mentioned, the dish needs to be larger for Scotland; I'm puzzled why Aldi have even bothered marketing them in Scotland, but guess they're ignorant of the kits limitations.

I have heared of people who claim to have got a signal with them in the South of France, albeit a very week signal. I suspect atmospheric conditions will have a significant affect on the signal. It may work fine one day but not the next.

hi i have used my satelite in a box (from lidl) in scotland from gibson park in the borders up to inverewe in the highlands and many places inbetween with no problems,other than trees in line of signal.hope this helps.

it is a 40cm dish ,the kit is a maxiview, i have never used a signal finder just the compass that comes with the kit.

Hmm thats interesting, i guess ill have to test it out.
Its good to get a proper review though, ive trawled through many posts by people saying it wont work ... but then i find a fair few people with the kits saying that they can get a signal ...

I have a similar kit from Lidel and have used it in the north of the Isle of Skye,Enniskillen Northern Ireland,and the north of Scotland.I have had this kit for seven years now.The Comag digit packed up so we bought a cheap digit box from Argos which is easier to operate.We have also used our Sky digit box.Take care to get your connections right,make sure you site your caravan with no trees or other obstructions in line of the satellite,you must have clear line of sight between dish and satellite.Practice at home setting it up then it will be easier when on site.If you have any probs just post again here and you will get helpfull advice.

You can use any old Sky dish and although it won't fit in the suitcase you can just take it with you when you think you might need it.

Most of the people who say these kits don't work have not set the dish up correctly. A lot of people think they are like TV aerials. Wave it about and you'll get a signal. In reality, a satellite dish has to be perfectly aligned, not pointing somewhere near a transmitter.

Today i thought i'd give it a trial in the van and im happy to say that it took me about 15 seconds to get a picture ! ... i'd previously scanned for channels using my sky dish though so already had a full channel list.

Couldnt believe how quickly i got it setup and working though, i was expecting alot more faffing about.

Now i'm just over the border in dumfries, but if i can get a signal quality of over 70% here im fairly happy i'll be able to get a signal further up :)
