To post a image (pic) within a post on any forum you need to do the following.
You will first need to upload your images to a website that will store your images and that will allow another site to use the images Photobucket is one that will do this - there are others or you may have your own website you can use (which is what I do)
With Photobucket you will have to make your album "public" this allows the album to be shared i.e. lets other people and other websites like this on access the image to view it
Photobucket will give you a number of options to allow you to share your image copy the one that starts [ img ] (without the spaces) now all you have to do is paste it directly into the post you are writing at the place you require it Do not paste this link into the box that appears when you click the image button on the post reply box
Preview the post to make sure you have got it right.
If you have your own website and store your images there then you need to write the following in one continuous line - I written it to make it easier to show what you need to do:
first [ img ] (no spaces) this tells the program that every thing following is to be displayed as a image
second the full url to the image - http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/images/logo11063.gif
third [ /img ] (no spaces) this tell the program tthe image url stops here
so you get
One note: this forum uses capitals rather than lower case for programming instructions - it will however change lower to upper case. On most sites and forums img and IMG can be read as two different commands so get into the habit of writing your commands in lower case

Rune Casters detail is spot on.
If you want a dead simple image hosting site though, I'd recommend Servimg.com as their site is nice and basic, easy to navigate and sort your images into set categories etc.
Can I offer one other bit of advice though regarding image sizes. We've all seen the threads where there's suddenly a massive photo and the whole site goes off the screen. Before uploading your photo's, use the Windows facility to resize them. This will create a second smaller image and this will not only load quicker on the site but will generally improve the whole look of the forum and make pictures easier to view too. You should be able to right-click over your pictures in Windows and use the 'Resize Picture' option. Aim for a medium, 800x600 resolution. Alternatively, if you use Servimg.com for image hosting, you can instruct the site to resize as you upload your photo's to them for hosting.
