Want a separate shower cubicle and preferable new style heating that does not use a fire and use it a lot in the winter so high grade insulation. We may possibly be using as a live in so durability is also required.
We have a maximum budget of around £13k. Can anyone offer a suggestion as to anything that may be suitable.
What about something like this - I think you will struggle to get Alde heating for under £13k (but I could be wrong) as I thought it was only fitted into 2011 models??
Lunar Clubmans had Aldi heating fitted in 2010, i don't know if previous models did or not. You may pick up a 2010 model but prob not for £13, they were £18 new i think.
Thanks for your replies. Jeff there are so many new models about at the moment we are not sure what to look for. We currently have a Lunar but are very disappointed with durability to say there are only 2 adults using it so was hoping for personal recommendations before trawling through the many websites.
We have been looking for a new one that has a fixed island bed and Alde heating for 2 years and isn't a Lunar. To date nothing, so good luck. For £13k. I think not!!!!
Have been looking at a couple of dealer websites and they are starting to clear the 2011 stock ready for 2012 so was hoping we may hit lucky. First of all tho i need to find what models suit our needs. Looks like a trip around the web may be needed lol
Have you looked at Adria & Hobby? I can't recommend any specific models but I know they're cheaper to start with, we saw a lovely Adria at the NEC show last year that had twin beds that could also be pushed together to make a double.
I do like Lunars but agree they probably aren't the most durable, my parents had an 18 month old one and only kept it for 1 holiday, the bottom fell out the drawer, the board at the end of the front seat pushed out if you leant on it & the edging around the worktops & drawers had already started to flake

Hi Bill
The new Swift Sports models are very nice but they still have the Truma fire in them. Had a discussion with one of there guys over it and suggested they put in the new Whale system but apparently it is not that good. The Alde heating adds quite a bit more weight to the van which is why you only find it in rather flimsy Lunars. We we were tempted with a Lunar SI Clubman but eventually decided we really wouldn't be happy with a Lunar after years of owning Swifts.
Caravans wirth Alde heating are not easy to come by and any reductions on new vans certainly don't come down to your budget of £13k. The new Truma fires are apparently a lot more efficient than the older versions so I wouldn't rule them out altogether.
The Alde heating only adds about 7kg to the van weight over the blown air/separate HW system, but an Alde system is significantly more expensive so is only fitted to top end models, which are better equipped so heavier to start with.
I think the single axle models got Alde from 2011.
Regarding our Lunar, it is 9 years old but for 4 years it sat on a driveway not being used but was still regularly serviced. We have had it 3 years and lots of niggly things going wrong, front window outer and inner skins separated, tap spout broken, sliding door sticking, door catches breaking wooden battens breaking. etc etc etc
Looks like we may give the Alde heating a miss, liked the idea of not having a fire cluttering and love the way the pipes are laid.
So without the Alde heating?? Or wait another 12 months.
Have seen a couple of Sterling advertised that are within budget and although we have had a Swift (same group) in the past we have not heard much about Sterling
I think what you say about your Lunar can be true of most brands but it does put you off having the same brand again if you've had problems. Hope you're luckier this time round.
