SWMBO has decided that our caravanning days are over having spent a couple of great years going to France, our trip to Devon this month (rain..rain..rain) and the fact that we are not going to be able to go away next summer has convinced her that we should pack it in and sell. We only used the 'van for one holiday each year and, as the kids are all doing other things, we have not been able to use it as intended for short breaks at all :(
My question is whether I should put the 'van up for sale now or wait until the spring next year? Any opinions welcomed.
I'd hold on till spring, we are trying to sell ours ( to buy another) but it's definatley slow now, we sold our last van in march and it went really fast, you will get more if you hold on till the new season.

If you are paying for storage, it may be worth your while letting it go for a few hundred less now than spending the extra on storage until the spring.
What it boils down to is it's worth what someone will pay. I bought a used caravan in May and was very happy with the price I paid for it. You can get some bargains at any time of year if you are prepared to make enough low offers and happen to find someone who is desperate to sell. Likewise, you have nothing to lose by advertising it on a free classified site for several months and sticking to your asking price.
sell now as you never know what our winter will be like an what sort of damage could be done to your van, so id get it on sale an just take bit less if needed hun

Mirano and Grizgut,
What caravans do you both have berth/price wanted, would you consider swapping for a 2 berth?
We love our caravan and haven't really thought of getting rid of it but if a larger one came along at the right price, you never know!!
We have a two berth and want a bigger one too lol

Hello All,
SWMBO has decided that our caravanning days are over having spent a couple of great years going to France, our trip to Devon this month (rain..rain..rain) and the fact that we are not going to be able to go away next summer has convinced her that we should pack it in and sell. Keep the caravan and sell SWMBO
------------- Caravanning is a way of getting a cheap holiday out of an expensive hobby
we have just sold ours, advertised it on here and preloved, had a few calls but no viewings so put it on ebay as classified advert which costs £15 and no fees, had plenty of intrest and sold to first person who viewed it
We sold our van last september and i was watching the tt's for sale at the same time and they were going for a really good price so i'd say sell now as a lot people who have camped this year will be thinking of getting a caravan to extend the season :)
We had it advertised on here, preloved, gumtree, caravan selecta and then on ebay and it sold second time around :)
The first time it didn't meet the reserve so we put a buy it now at the reserve price and it sold within the hour :)
You could put it up for sale everywhere for a couple of weeks and see what happens then put it on ebay with a buy it now price or classified ad.
If you do put it on ebay i'd advise putting the approximate price of every extra in the ad in bullet points as this seemed to help the second time around :)
Hope this helps
Swings and roundaboute. Reckon there is no easy answer. My local dealer tells me that things are slower now than they have been for the past few years. Things seem to be starting to bite. May be worse next spring so perhaps fewer folk around with the spare cash.

We bought ours two months ago and the dealer said this summer is very good for selling caravans.
He reckoned he couldn't get 4 berths in fast enough.
We ended up buying a two berth because all the fours under 8grand were snapped up.
Our nearest dealer is now advertising caravans wanted on the local radio.
That looks like a lovely caravan! I'm sure you'll have no trouble selling it. we are in the same dilemma, as we want to sell ours and get a slightly bigger one. I have sold cars using Ebay's Classified Ads and on both occasions have got a lot of interest and sold quickly. Good luck with your sale :)
