We bought our Unicorn Barcelona in June this year, the day we collected our new van we found that the skylight blind was not working correctly in the bedroom, front blind the cord became detached on the concertina blind. The salesman had the front blind repaired but the skylight would have to be replaced. everything else seem ok. We needed the van for our 2 weeks in Devon straight away.

Since June we have been away 5 times and the 3 front blinds and 2 side blinds are a pain to open when they have been closed during the night, When trying to open the concertina blinds they seem to buckle, it took me more than 15 mins to open 1 blind.(this was last weekend)

Our van is now back at the dealership to have the blinds rectified, also the seal on the outside rear panel requires attection as that was coming away, also the spark ingition for cooker needs seeing to as well. l was told by the service dept that my van was the 4th one with blind trouble.

My question to other Unicorn owners have they had the same problem with the concertina blinds?

Yes we have a Bailey Unicorn Seville.  Having the same trouble with the blinds.  It seems worse when they have been down for a length of time.  Will have to have ours check when it goes in for its first service.  Also the plastic clip on the top of the blind as snapped on one of the blinds so be very careful with them.  Otherwise very pleased with the Unicorn.

Only problem we've had with our new Valencia is that a single LED has blown in one of the front grab handles.  That and I haven't managed to work out how the device that holds the fridge door open when not in use works!!!

Not wishing o hijack the thread with more grumbles about the Peg Ser1, (ours is just heading up to its 2nd anniversary), but SWMBO and I just feel that Baileys have lost the quality in their 'vans.

The trim peels off the panel ends, the shelves are flimsy and sag, things which should latch, don't, bits fall off, lights go off, exterior trim either falls off, changes colour, or has such a matt finish, it will never be white again.

Finally I got challenged by the Bailey engineer for pulling out the awning skirt " too quickly": it rips up the cheap, soft plastic awning rail.

I love the ALUTEC construction, but I really wish Bailey could return to the quality of finish that our 2002 Pageant had.

The blinds must be different to the Pegasus 1

Ours are fine, except for one which does not latch too well at the bottom left corner, I think the rail needs a slight tweak!

Van is now 19 monthhs old and has had a fair bit of use.

Faults:

Dents, new spec bumpers and trim fitted.

Pump froze in the winter-it had some water left in it despite draining-not Baileys fault!

Pink spots on plastic trim, replaced.

LEDs failed in front handle, replaced.

Cupboard catches weak-adjusted.

Water heater failed on gas-circuit board changed(not a Bailey part!)

The lower skirt rail does wear where you put the draught skirt in being plastic not ally on the Pageants!-(Cost cutting?)

Other than pump all put right by dealer. Salop at Cosford who are excellent!

Our pegasus  has not had any window blind problems. The big rooflight has had problems with it retracting back in to the frame.

We have had a new fridge, 1 x front grab handle, 1x interior led light, front and rear rubber extrusion trim because it had pink spots, radio connection problems and a few adjustments and minor issues all of which have or are being dealt with very well by our dealer.

Common problem. Our Swift Challenger is the same. You would think that after all the years someone could design a blind that works.

What type of blinds are they, pull down or pull up? I've always preferred the pull up type and never had problems (touch wood) in any of the vans we've had with them (though we've never had a Bailey)

also, heaven forbid, you get the same issues again you can adjust the tightness of the blinds yourself which would save you the nuisance of a trip to the dealer

Well, I reckon Bailey are doing something right cause elsewhere people love this van, I expect most of the issues here aren't indicative!

no blind problems with our pegasus other than the mini heki over the bed the blind has pinholed within a year of replacement for same fault.
after looking at the latest Baileys a couple of weeks ago the quality now is far superior to the dross produced in the first year of alutech.
other than the blind i mentioned ours has been problem free for almost a year now

well that doesn't sound too bad, blinds, especially pleated ones, always seem to suffer light penetration on the creases from what we've seen when in friends vans on sites. Good to hear the quality's improving and that you like your van!

I think there is a major issue with quality control at Bailey.

Here's the list of problems we had with our 2015 Vigo. Bailey not interested in helping us or offering any compensation due to poor build quality. We just have to keep taking it in for warranty repairs. We still haven't had a trip without faults since buying it in March. I doubt we will buy Bailey again.

1 Bathroom light failed - won't turn on
2 Water pump failed - constantly clicking and constantly on
3 Bailey log at front fell off
4 Bailey letter "A" at front fell off
5 Three fridge door shelves have broken during travel - not even holding anything majorly heavy
6 Window blind on the door does not retract properly
7 Window blind in bathroom does not retract properly
8 Push button for cupboard above sink broke - I believe screws were too short
9 Base of seat (bench) in lounge broke in half - looking at it there is no support at the rear of the seat
10 Lump was protruding from veneer strip on bedroom wall
11 Satellite connection to kitchen and bedroom areas was not connected properly
12 Shaving mirror retaining clip was missing in the bathroom
13 One of the bed slats keeps falling off from under the bed.
14 The plastic covers that cover the corners of the bed under the bit that can be raised kept falling off.
15 The holder for one of the gas bottles fell off due to the screws being too small
16 The indicators kept flashing at double speed – a device had to be fitted to the caravan, but this has not resolve1 Bathroom light failed - won't turn on
