Hi,

We have a 2004 Elddis Avante 505 - only just got it and have just returned from a weekend away in it.

The handbook refers to the van having a water heater powered by gas & 230v electrics. However, I only seem to have one Ultrastore controller for gas there is a termostat on it and a little flame symbol. I can hear the gas ignite when I turn it on. The only other control knob is next to next to it and is for the heater (Ultraheat).

The Truma manual refers to a Knob marked 'Ultrastore EL' for electric, I don't have this. Does this mean my water heater is gas only despite what it says in the manual?

There are 2 rocker switches that illuminate when switched on underneath the Ultrastore and Ultraheat knobs - but I can't find anything that tells me what these are for.

Bit of a newbie so any advice appreciated.

I have a 2003 eldiss, but as its in storage I cant actually check, but I think the electric switches under the ultra switches put the appropriate units onto electric. The ultra switches perform 2 functions, on the water heater one it switches to gas at the appropriate flame symbol, at this point a red light should show, turning green when the gas ignites ( you have, of course remembered to remove the outside gas exhaust cover first), then the switch operates as the the thermosat, both for gas and electric..

For the room heater the ultra switch operates as the electric power switch, either 500/1000/2000watts (Ithink). The gas mode is operated rom the heater itself,there are a couple of differenrt ignition methods depending on the model fitted. Whether using gas or electric the rocker switch needs to be on as this operates the fan.

So if I want gas only I select the 'flame symbol' and then adjust the therostat (I did remember to remove the cover) or flick the seperate switch below to use electric using the same thermostat but without selecting the 'flame symbol'?

I believe most ultrastores are dual fuel, sometimes the trick is finding where the mains switch has been fitted!
