What some people forget is that because the bed is towards the rear of the caravan in many instances, with all the additional stuff piled into this storage area can make the caravan unstable, i.e. insufficient noseweight.
not had that problem , if anything its the opposite. we`ve had to load stuff onto the axle or slightly rear of the axle to get noseweight to the mid 70`s . if we dont we are pushing 90kg +
Stealth has 15" wheels making it higher of the ground and it subsequently tows nose down. Haven't had a problem yet and I carry my Cobb barbecue and charcoal in the bed space - albeit at the foot nearest the axle !.

We've not had any stability problems either. We load the water and waste hog over the axke or just behind. Chairs, bbq etc go under our island bed too. In fact, stuff is spread all over the caravan and hubby says it tows better than our Adria did.
Actually, having a large bathroom at the back adds weight at the back also, doesn't it?
Now that's very interesting. I have to admit that this is one make that we haven't looked at because in the past the Bailey build quality or interiors haven't been to our liking and we've always disregarded it. The weight is fine so it's a question of cost.
We've got a Bailey dealership just down the road from us at Welham Green, Hatfield so we'll go along and have a look.
Can you tell me how far back this configuration goes timewise 'cos we can only afford secondhand?
Thanks for this.
Vic
Hi Vic - was just browsing eBay and came across this, which sounds like the layout you've mentioned? Just thought I'd post the link in case it helps....

Hi Vic. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I've been doing other things most of the evening.
The Pageant Series 7 Sancerre is a 2009 van. I don't know how much they are going for now, but I suspect they are holding their price fairly well. They are the last of the Bailey traditional build before they switched to Alu-tech. The Sancerre doesn't go back that far - it may just be 2009, but there may have been a few released at the end of 2008. I have a feeling that there were other manufacturers who adopted a similar layout, but I think they were all at about the same time. Sorry, this doesn't seem much help. Perhaps your dealer will be a bit more enlightened.

Bailey Senator
Thanks for your help but the van is way, way too big for us. Wouldn't get it on our drive without an overhang onto the pavement and then there's the question of weight. You'd probably need a "Chelsea Tractor" to pull it but many thanks anyway.

Thanks David. We'll give it a good checking out. You'll be pleased to learn that you've set us on a course we hadn't previously considered!

Hi Vic. Glad to be of help - that's what UKCS is all about. Hope everything works out OK and keep us up-to-date on progress.
Its fixed bed..end bathroom for us..we have a twin axle..so our front seats are long enough to use as singles if needed..
We made a huge error in the layout with our first van a few years ago..gettin a 6 berth..thinkin that we needed lots of beds..havin 2 teens that wanted their friends with them..the kids had growth spurts within 6 months and were too big for the bunks..and they only came with us a few times..and we were havin to make up a bed at the front each night and more importanly ..struggle in a side bathroom and there was no privacy to get dressed/undressed..we part exchanged for our current van and absolutely love it..we use the fixed bed..the teens either sleep on the front seats as singles or in the awnin..me and mark use the van most weekends as a luxery 2 berth..lol
Our caravan has an L shaped lounge which we love, don't know what we will do when we change as they don't seem to be made any more. Fixed single beds and end washroom, but twin axle, not a problem as we have a 4x4. Only 2 of us so don't need an awning.
