After lighting you usually have to hold the knob in for a a few seconds,if it stays lit after this it is ok.

Did you have the caravan door open?
We went away for the first time in our Crusader and had trouble trying to keep the oven alight, we found if we shut the camper door it was ok, so it was the draught blowing it out, it was very windy though.

Maybe not just when lighting ,we find our oven and grill both go out of we have the van door open when windy or if we have the blown air heating on .

If you have just connected the gas cylinder then it could be air in the pipe which is quite normal. You just need to force the air out first and the easiest way is to light the gas rings first and remove any remaining air in the system. This usually sorts the problem out but the same thing can happen with the fridge too when you first connect the cylinder but of couse you can't let the air out as the gas pipe is a different feed to the unit. You just have to keep clicking the igniter until all the air is forced out and then it should light.

Ours goes out quite often when we have caravan door open and the awning not up.
Took me a while to figure it out.
