Do you think it might make the van a little dark, if one of the skylights went? And the second question.....£££? It says it's fairly lightweight, but however heavy or light it is it hsd to go against the MTPLM allowance. Otherwise it sounds a good idea.

I really hope they are quieter than the noisy Dometic ones; once had the misfortune to have a van with one come and park near us in France. The owners left it on 24/7 whether in the van or not and it drove the rest of us mad.
So now always make sure we locate well away from any van with one and hope nobody with one comes near us again.
Glad to see some French sites now ban them being used.
Truma also make an Air-con unit at 25kg which is fitted under the front dinette or wherever there is sufficient space , its the saphire compact and is very efficient .
We had it fitted to our last Bailey at a cost of £1400 and it only required 3amps to drive the unit so there was no problems when on a 6amp EHU .
Also a lot quieter because the unit is inside the van and enclosed .
Our air con on the roof went so i decided to get rid of. .When i was in the workshop i saw the unit that they had took off and decided to feel the weight, its was very heavy and to think that it was costing me more to tow it..
Ours came factory fitted with the van, and is fitted in addition to roof lights.
Didn't think I would use it much in the UK but have had it on on several occasions this year. Aware that it could disturb others with the external noise so only have on blast for short periods of time and then on low. It does cool the van quickly when you return after a trip on a hot day.

We've never had one Jeff, and in years past we've been all around the south of Europe and have never really had a problem. We just used to take fans. Mind you, what you've never had, you don't miss!
The newer Dometic ones are very quiet. When on the low fan setting, you cannot hear ours unless you are standing right next to the van. There is more noise in the van than outside.
If it is hot outside, we set it on low and 22 degrees and leave it running when the van is closed up while we are out. That way the van never gets hot. We don't normally run it overnight.

It came factory fitted David and it weighed a ton,if its warm when were away i use the one we bought for the house, though up here it gets little use..
I've had the Dometic B2200 for the last 4 years on my Fleetwood. I have just today bought another one for the replacement van.
The one thing that you do need to ask your dealer/manufacturer, is whether the roof needs any extra strengthening. Not all vans are simply remove vent and fit aircon. I have asked 3 Buccaneer dealers today if my roof is ok. They aren't consistent with their answers. Two said yes, one said no. I'll phone Buccaneer tomorrow...
With regards to are they worth it. Yes without a doubt if you tour abroad like we do. The temperature difference can be 13 degrees.
