We have just been offered £5000 trade in ( against a new van ) for a 2006 ( latter half ) Bailey Ranger 510/4 bone dry with fsh

Is this a total micky take ,or is this what we can expect from all dealers ?

we've been offered a good price for our 2010 Ranger GT60 and the mover to be shifted foc.

 Out of interest, would we be better to sell van privately then go to dealer without a part ex or do dealers like part exs as then they make out of both vans?

Isn't trade in price meaningless? Surely the important figure is cost to change, for example:

If a dealer offers you £5000 for your van and wants an additional £5000 to take out the new van, the new van will cost your van + £5000.

If the dealer offers you £10,000 for your van and wants an additional £6000 to take out the same new van, the new van will cost your van + £6000.

Would you be happier with the second deal? It would cost you £1000 more!

If you sell your 'van privately, welcome to the world of timewasters, dreamers, scammers, derisory offers, being messed about by folks who can't make their mind up, waiting in for 'buyers' that don't turn up et al.

Or just tow 'van to the dealers & collect your new one. A service provided by the dealer that has to be paid for like any other.
