Advice needed..When my Platinum 447 caravan is on Electric Hookup and it is Charging my Leisure battery..Do I have to turn the Charger off after a few hours charging, or do I just leave it on a constant charge..
Your safest method to answer this it to measure the voltage at the battery after 24 hour on EHU. Assumes you have a reasonable multi-meter.
If it is 13.8 volts or less when no power users are connected and you are on the EHU you are okay to leave it on.
If you check it too early and your van has a sophisticated charger you could well see higher voltages. Hence my telling you to measure after 24 hours when the battery would be fully charged.
Your should be able to leave the charger on , when the battery is full the charger should stop charging it . Mine is always on unless on a non electric pitch .
we have just been on site for 6 weeks using EHU meaning the battery is on charge 24/7.ours is connected to EHU at home and comes on for 4 hours a day by way of a timer plugged in.been like this for years without a problem.all that's required is to monitor from the gauge inside.12.7 volts is a full charge.when on EHU it will be charging at 13.5 volts so the needle will be higher.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
