Hi,
Hubby and i are buying a caravan its a Bailey discovery 200, 2005 model.
Private sale and it costs 5000.Comes with 2 awnings and battery, gas and waste and water holders.
Its in lovely condition just a couple of minor marks on the body.
The mossie mesh is missing from the door its cris reg.
What do you think is the price ok ?. We have been looking for quite a while and saw some dirty and damp vans.
Next question we need to insure it, it will be in storage.

Here I go again sorry... check for cracks in the front and back panels. Ask if these have been replaced, I won't go on in detail it's been done to death but if you put in a search on here 'cracked panels' or similar you will see what I am talking about. I speak from experience.

Have a look on caravanfiner to see prices, it dosen't sound too bad though at that price.

Re insurance, just steer clear of E&L cheap but not cheerfull.

buy a damp meter and use it in every corner you can find including under the seats front and rear and inside the cupboards.

Yes i have posted it on the forum, we had all the cash ready to pick the van up. On the last minute decided to ring CRIS, the van has finance on it.
They gave us the no to ring and it was correct, we then rang the seller who was dumbfounded ? he bought the van cash.
technically he has a van he cannot sell.We did not give the finance people his address, hubby declined to do that as he thought the guy was genuine.??.
So the van has HPI ALERT ON IT .
Would like to know what your thoughts are on this .

How does that work though?

Say I bought a car on finance, sold it for cash but carried making the payments to the finance company. Is the car not sellable? Something else to look out for now

I think it's still the property of the fiance company until it's paid for i think if you get in touch with them and ask to sell it before it's paid for they will agree but some arrangment will be made for the money to go direct to them .
