Can anybody tell me where the drainage tap is for the 10 litre water tank on a Lunor Lexor EW? I haven't been able to find it and need to winterise the van.
My tank also has a plug which can be pulled out of the water tank, but it also has the yellow flip tap between the tank and the water heater. I put my van away today. beddding out cupboards open . Damp absorbers in. not sure if i need to do anything else. first season with a caravan. I said i would never tow a big metal box. Would never change it now.
On the same subject other than using the above drain tap is there anything else we should be doing to make sure the van is fully drained? We always leave the taps open when in storage but open these after the pump is disconnected and turned off so I was just a bit worried about water remaining in the pipes leading to the taps?

Drain the tank down and leave valve plus all taps open (in the midway position, between hot & cold). If you've got the retractable tap in the bathroom (to double as shower head), then perhaps draw this out and hang on the shower hook to ensure no loop-trap for water in the pipe.
Remember your flush tank too and carefully pump the loo to remove the majority of liquid from the pump (can freeze otherwise and break pump), plus useful to keep the rubber drain bung off from the flushtank, located on left of cassette locker.
Thanks Paul, so we don't need to worry about water in the tap pipes then? We were just worried that although we always drian the tank there might be water left in the pipes........does this just drain out?
Good point about the pump, we always drain the flush tank but I didn't think about pumping the handpump until its clear.

Michael's posted a useful link above that covers the absolute lot, but regarding the tap pipework there's not really much you can do about them. Technically, they should drain more or less fully but providing the taps and drain valve are left open, there'll be sufficient expansion room in the system to take up whatever might be left when it freezes.
what is not on the list is any bottles of liquid whatever inside the van must be removed, including tins of coke ect.i had a bottle of toilet fluid freeze, had that burst it would have been an awful mess.even the cooking oil went a funny solid looking mess.remove anything the a mouse can use as nest material, papers, rags, sponge.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
We always use one of those sonic mouse things as well - always set up in the van during the winter months or during long periods of non-use while in storage .... never had a problem with the mice as yet so hopefully, these things do actually work. Mice can cause a great deal of damage to the van, gnawing wires and pipework as well as nesting in your seating!!!! Never leave any foodstuffs of any kind in the van and remove all paper/nesting materials.
If you have the space at home, it's a good idea to remove all upholstered cushions etc. if you can...but as I say, not everyone has the space to store these at home during the winter. We just move ours away from the outside walls of the van before putting on the van cover.
we are lucky enough to have the van at home and do take out the cushions each winter and store them in the loft.i cover them in old bed quilt covers first.(dust)

We never lay up the van - use it all year round including Xmas and New Year.
But if you do need to lay it up please make sure you empty the loo and the flush. Also, if possible, move the van every few weeks (just a couple of feet) to help your tyres. It is a good idea to take as much out of the van as possible but remember to make sure it is all ready and properly working next time you use it. Many a weekend across the country ruiined by unchecked vans.
