HI we are moving from a tent to a caravan and as this is our caravan we would like some tips on what to look for and ask...We are looking for fixed bed and end bathroom, have up to £12,000 to spend, do we wait and hope to get a bargain 2011 new one or secondhand, there are so many out there, so any advice would be appreciated..
In your position I think I would be tempted to wait until the nights are dark and the days are cold and dealers start thinking about covering overheads and the private sellers are facing up to cost of Christmas.

There will be loads of bargains to be had in you price bracket once the shows begin. People will be trading in their vans and dealer should have surplus stock. Always remember you should get AT LEAST 10% off the window price if you have no trade in. We got 15% off + a starter pack thrown in for free. I.E. EHU, step, Aqua roll, waste hog, mirrors, number plate Etc Etc also got the alko hitch lock and the wheel clamp at 50% of the usual price.
Always insist on a full service history , This should include all repairs and most importantly the damp report. All of our service reports, warranty repairs and the damp reports are kept in the caravans folder. These will be passed on when we sell our caravan.
And of course barter your life away get them to give you as much warranty as you can. 6 months is the usual so push for 12, You'll get the remainder of the manufacturers warranty for water ingress Etc BUT only if the previous owner has had the van serviced correctly and all the paper work is in order so please CHECK and re CHECK this is in order.
Good luck pal. Hope this has helped and you get the van of your dreams and have many many happy holidays
