We currently have a Dorema size 15 awning, 1000 - 1025 and new van should have an awning size 16 1025 - 1050, now I'm just wondering if we could use the 15 or will it be way too short, or will we definitely have to get a bigger one? The awning size of new van is 1047.
Thanks Wendy

It all depends on the actual A measurements but if they are much different you could always get an alteration made to the awning rather than going to the expense of a new one.

Your new van is the top end of the 16, so it might be a little tight. You could get it altered. But then there's something nice about having a new awning when you have a new van.
Thanks folks, it does look like the old one (but not actually that old, and looks brand new ) will be too small. Think we may need to try it on the van first, think I was just hoping for the best!

Your existing awning may fit but what you have to watch for is uneven ground. If the ground falls away from the doorway then you will have problems getting the awning to reach the ground when pegging out. This is something that people sometimes forget to take into account but you are better having a slightly slack awning than a short one as you always have the option of driving the caravan onto ramps before setting up as this will give then give you the little extra height if required.
I'd give it a try before buying a new one, you never know, your awning may be at the top end of its size range.
We had our old awning altered twice by a Bristol based company called Kingswood Canvas. They do first class work with a forst clas service.
The first time they put darts in it to make it slightly bigger, the second time they removed the darts when we changed the van. Both times they did a superb job. They even made us a tall annex because we couldn't get one for that awning. That was done ten years ago and my niece still uses the awning & annex to this day with no leaks & no problems.
On a perfectly level site your existing awning will be 22cm too short. That is it will be 11cm off the ground at the front and the back against the caravan. If you ever had to pitch up somewhere with a slope from side to side that 11cm gap between the awning and the ground will increase.
A new one it is then I have spent an afternoon looking at awnings so think a new van deserves a new awning, but being tempted by a large porch one as it would leave side window clear and not as heavy. So will look for new home for old awning!

I though I sensed a new one on the horizon. If you can get to the NEC, you might just get a bargain.
Edit: Sorry Wendy. Just realised where you live, so forgetthe NEC bit!
