Can anyone recommend an insurance company for a tourer on a seasonal pitch?? Seems quite expensive so far especially as out site doesnt have locked gates etc.....i know of a few on our site who don`t bother with the insurance due to costs and fact owners live on site and never had a van taken.....thoughts appreciated....

Because they have never had one pinched it doesn't mean they never will. Cannot recommend any insurers but only you can value your premium against the potential loss of your van.

If you do decide to self insure you could take many measures to tempt the thieves to take the van next door instead of yours.

We are on a seasonal pitch and insure with C & CC. Site has a barrier and CCTV though.

Mine too - on an all year round seasonal pitch with security gates, cctv and owner on site. It may be as secure as possible against theft but that still leaves other types of damage.

When we had a seasonal pitch a couple of years ago, we insured our van through 4site insurance. They were the cheapest we found. You need insurance not so much to insure yours but for the third party liability cover. If your van went on fire you may lose your van but also have to cover the fact that the vans next to you could be damaged as well.

Although we don't use a seasonal pitch the caravan club don't mind where you store the van as long as you fit the agreed security devices as per your policy.

Because we have a large Hobby on a seasonal pitch, we found that a lot of insurers including the Caravan Club (who we had been with for 20 or so years) would not insure us.

However the C & CC were very helpful and our insurance is now with them. We've recouped some of the premium by cancelling our Caravan Club membership
