afraid ours looks like staying put over winter, i'd like to take her out during the winter ( lots of winter photo opportunities) but SWMBO, isn't that keen on the idea.

got her to go for a week at Flixton (humble bee farm) ,mid Feb' this year, which didn't help my cause ,rained (at some point) every day, usually as we had just set out on a walk with the dog.  by the end of the week the site was a virtual quagmire.

the old tin tent lives on our drive so a winter jaunt IS possible , depends how persuassive i can be

no tin tent outings booked as yet ,just another cruise in Sept' booked so far

Oooo yes, winter vanning is the bestest. Playing with the kids in the snow, sitting out with the fire pit, all snug and warm in my Bertha bed with the dog and a good book (dog takes turns with us or with the kids). Nearly as good as summer vanning, but SOOO much better than what we had before, ie no vanning!!

I look forward to winter caravanning, down to Porstmouth on Boxing Day and then the ferry to Spain for 4 months. Still in France though until Friday.

Only thing I have booked so far is a weekend at the end of Oct and going away boxing day for a week to Chiiping. Luckily do not have to book early in the winter.

My lovely OH has Arthritis quite bad & doesn't do too well in cold or wet weather but the thought of sending a few days relaxing in the van as you describe sounds lovely. We'll have to see how it goes as winter gets closer but at the moment the van's redundant until at least next easter.

We've done a bit of winter caravanning in Northern Italy and the South of France - it can get pretty cold there, and we've experienced frost, but not snow, but we were nice and cosy inside.

However, we've just got back from a few days in Oxford, and although the weather was lovely and warm during the day it got quite cold at night and the van got very steamed up.  This didn't happen abroad, perhaps because the air is much drier than in UK!  Also, when we went to the shower block in the morning it was very steamy inside and our glasses immediately steamed up and we couldn't see!  This seems to be the main drawback to winter caravanning, but it wouldn't put us off.

We try and get away for Xmas as we find Xmas day very boring at home. We decorate the caravan a bit with lights etc to make it feel Christmasy as the wife put sit.
One thing she has learnt and that is not to place the roast dinner in the cool box which is then placed outside!
Nothing worse than finding out an hour before dinner that your dinner is frozen solid!

We have been away every christmas for the last ten years.Put up the awning, turn on the van heating, open the blown air vent nearest the door, open the door all the heat goes into the. awning. light the B.B.Q heat up the mulled wine. LOVELY.

Make sure you book in the next week. After 5 enquires from kent to somerset. We got in at Chew Valley. Christmas caravanning is getting more populer each year.
