If you buy a caravan that has still got 9 months dealer warranty ie a 2005 caravan would the dealer honour the waranty if the original owner sold the caravan on. Ie would the new owners then have the waranty.
a 2005 is 6 years old and imho will not have any makers warranty left on it.if you buy it from a dealer he can put his own warranty on it of 6 or 12 months from the day of purchase.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.

I know it hasn`t any makers warranty left, folk selling it havent had it long and they bought it with 12 months dealers warranty. They haven`t mentioned transferring, it was us that thought it might be possible.

think only the dealer can confirm if he will transfer the warranty to you.the seller may say it has a warranty when selling it but the dealer will have other ideas.cost you nothing to ring them before you buy.

Then, if it is transferable you may need to assign it to you in accordance with the protocol set out in the warranty. Check its requirements. If you need a formal assignment document just say and I can post one. Can't do it at the moment as I am away on a CC site and the type of form is on the PC at home. Will be back home Monday

You are covered by the Sale of Goods Act for up to 6 years! However after 6 months you will need to prove that the fault existed prior to purchase. On a 2005 caravan the dealer should give you at least 6 months warranty. If not, walk away!

From the info suppied by OP they are buying privatley, the warranty is left over from when the seller bought from a dealer. As contract is not with dealer I don't think Sale of Goods Act would apply.

Unfortunately that bit was not obvious in the OP, however they did the right thing by walking away.
