I just thought I would post my experience of this product after using it for the first time today. I came across it after someone mentioned it in another thread regarding how to winterise your van and thought I would give it a try. For those of you that have no idea what I am talking about it is a system that plugs into the water pump outlet on the van and then allows you to pressure the system with a pump to clear any water remaining in the van pipes. I ordered this on line two weeks ago and it was delieved within 3 days. We used the van for the last time this week (winter carvaning with a 9 month old isn't something we fancy this year) and at the end of the trip did all the normal drian down procedures (empty hot water tank, taps left open, etc).

So this morning I thought I would see what water was left (if any!!) and if this was a worthwhile purchase or a waste of money. It was very very easy to set up and within a few minutes I had it all connected and my compressor (which I already had) set to 15 PSI. I then went through the routine of doing each tap on hot and cold, including the shower, and was amazed that over 1 litre of water came out between them! The shower in particular seemed to have a lot in and this was despite me removing the head and thinking I had cleared it before leaving site!

So, was it worth the money? Well I guess only time will tell but for £40 if it prevents any burst pipes then it gets my vote. 1 litre is a lot of water for a small van like ours and I do wonder what damage could have been caused if this had frozen. This is our first year with a van, and it will be in storage over the winter, so we won't be able to check it very often so now have the peace of mind to know it SHOULD be fully drained down.

My only comment on the device is buy a digital compressor to use with it as I think it is too much hassle using a foot pump (The one they use in their video is available on amazon for around £30).

If anyone else has used this then I would be interested to hear your thoughts / comments?

I made my own pipe with a water socket plug bought from ebay , a short length of pipe and a valve end adaptor from a foot pump i had . Cost about £9 in total .

Wish I had your DIY skils  The principle is very simple when you think about it and seems to produce some good results!

I made mines just the same way as the wizard did.
