We'll i've been putting off booking for the half term hols and have finally bit the bullet and booked today. This is our first year with the van so obviously wanted to use it to it's full extend and have never been camping before this late on in the year so haven't booked anything incase the weather was too bad. But that's it we're going to Flamingoland on Sunday for 4 nights cant wait so excited. We have got them Daily Mirror camping vouchers 95p per night but we've had the electric to pay for so have got it for £23.80 for the 4 nights. I'm so impressed!!! It would of been more for the awning but not sure what the winds gonna be like so havent booked for that. We planned to go into the park for 1 day definately but the lady on the phone has said you can just pay the entrance fee once and get passes for the whole of our stay, even more impressed! So what's everyone else upto this half term, and any tips what to do if the weathers rubbish or cold.
By the way, if you are looking for things to do, the Caravan Club website gives a list of things to do/places to go within a 20 or 30 mile radius. Find the nearest CC site and go from there.
I guess the nearest CC site would be Scarborough at West Ayton. If so, look HERE and scroll to the bottom of the page. There is a link to more attractions, just before the list of attractions start. Hope this might help you find something for the not so good weather days.

We're looking forward to going to Black Horse Farm in Kent. Started to take a few things to the van today.
That's about a mile from me - looks like a nice site!

It's a particular favourite of ours, and close to my wife's sister, who lived just down the road in Hythe. We reckon that during the October Half Term, South and East means the best possiblilty of good weather.
We are off to Black horse farm too on saturday. Our 1st time there. We are from Kent just that's a part we don't visit often and our young kids don't realise how far you go.

Not tried Black Horse as it is walking distance from us, but it looks good. If you get bored with the pub opposite, also called the Black Horse you should try the Cat and Custard Pot pub in Paddlesworth, about 2 miles from the site. Food is good value and it is full of WW2 memorabilia.
We often stay at a site called Hawthorn Farm at Martin Mill which is about 13 miles from home - great for a quick weekend break and the kids don't moan about the journey.

Plan to to try the CC site at Hythe at some point
Not been there, but have been to The Jackdaw at Denton, where they shot some scenes for 'The Battle of Britain' film.
Also not tried the CC site at Hythe. Access looks as if it might be a little more difficult (nice and easy at Densole) and not as many hardstandings.
Not been to the Jackdaw for a long time - last time we went the beer was very expensive. It has changed hands since so should probably give it another go.
Access to the BH site is great - straight off of the A260, just too near for us to take the van. Will have a look at the Hythe site next time I am there.
We're going to Primrose valley in Filey on saturday. Haven is not our cup of tea but kids love it! Just joined caravan club though so going to try have a winter holiday on one of their sites!
Enjoy your break everyone :-)
