Hi, the black streaks could be a combination of stuartggray link and joecroft2’s post, my van roof was immaculately clean and polished, when I was re-sealing van rails and had to take off the windows, I found the rubber seals were absolutely black with dirt, gave them a good clean and rubbed olive oil round the seals, no black streaks for 8 weeks and it had been raining heavily, the streaks that did form after that time were easily removed with a damp cloth and a light rub.
I clean van roof with a soft 3 piece extending window brush, use step ladder and the 4ft wall.

Must be handy having a four foot wall around the top of your van. You can just walk around with a brush and give it a good scrub....

Hi Phil, Unfortunately wall not around top of van, if it was, I would only need to clean roof and front of van, wall only on one side, just gave me idea though have half van two tone other all white, the two tone would be dirt bottom half white top half, save on cleaning and on cleaning materials

On our brand new caravan prior to collection two weeks ago we had black streaks running down the sides and some were nowhere near a window. Doubt if it is dirt rubber although no harm in cleaning the rubber.
Previously we used a furniture polish from Regal which contained beeswax and for about a year or m ore afterwards all you had to do was rinse it off.
I have waxed the front & back with autoglim car wax, but Aldi &Lidl also do an excellent wax S5carnauba wax, Aldi auto-xs carnauba wash &wax, which are very good on price. Also a friend of mine fits webbing type strips into the awning rails[they sell the strips at caravan shops not expensive a few quid] these act as guttering prevents the rain running off the roof down the sides of the van, so you dont get the same problem with streaks, plus you dont get that dripping onto the side windows when trying to sleep, ps the car wax etc are seasonal so have to keep your eye open when on sale.

We use UPVC cleaner no effort and leaves a shine.
Hi Matron, UK members in the know have been useing Fenwicks caravan cleaner for years as a UVPC cleaner with spectacular results, and as with all the Fenwick products they are safe, in fact if you don't trust the product don't buy it , as my old man would have said. kindest regards 6js.
I also use Fenwicks to clean UPVC and its much better than the UPVC cleaners that are available, easily removes black marks, a rinse with BoBBy Dazzler leaves it sparkling.
