Hi just wondering if wheel covers are any good while the van is in storage over the winter?  Have recently had two new tyres fitted and wanted to prtectect them as best as possible.

Cannot fit winter wheels, other than that any ideas of best looking after tyres while in storage?

Its good to cover tyres if they are likely to be in direct sunlight. I made covers cut out of an old tarp & held on with bungee, rather than pay out for purpose made items.

....and visit storage every so often and jack up the van to turn the tyres so that they rest on a different bit of tread, especially if the van is to be left for quite some time. Maybe take an inflator with you to check the pressure and top up as necessary

i put our van on axle stands to prevent flat spots,if you cannot do this move it forward or backwards for about 6 inch once a month.a large bin bag split down the centre of one side should go over and then tied on to prevent uv light damage.your insurance may not agree to winter wheels,ie no wheels no wheel clamp, not paying after a van is stolen.it has happened.

We bought the optional wheel covers when we bought our Protec cover 3 years ago and I fit these whenever the 'an is in storage on our drive.

I tend to use my wheel covers if the 'van is not going to be moved for more than a week but can't be faffed for shorter periods. The covers do hide what security you have on the wheels which may be an advantage as anyone spotting a 'van they want to steal would have to come prepared for all eventualities (hidden behind my covers are two Alko Secure wheel locks, two Bulldog clamps and one Millenco clamp, and I'm not really paranoid!). As my 'van rarely spends more than 3 or 4 weeks without being moved I have not gone along the route of the metal winter wheels and having a TA it would hardly be worth the effort.
