our pole goes down sometimes over night, i found you have to pull them out quite hard, otherwise when the wind shkes them they work loose.

Sunderland going down...is it an omen? I don't fly a flag and will not until Leeds are back in the premiership and have beaten Sunderland at Wembley!!!!!!! (Long grudge)

How many of you that fly flags think of the noise nuisance they cause to your immediate neighbours?

depends on if they have a flag or if they spend half the night talking loudly keeping others awake.

My neighbour (on a seasonal pitch) always wears his sufc shirt on a Saturday, but more often than not he takes it off as soon as the results are in.
I'm black & white through & through but I hold no grudge against any team doing well and it would be a better world if everyone knew the true meaning of the word SPORT.

You're joking, I hope?
Noise? From a flag? If the flag is making a noise, that will be because it is very windy - if it's very windy, a noisy flag is surely the least of your problems, even if you can hear it?
No, I don't have flags but quite like them....new thing we saw this weekend was christmas lights all the way up the flagpole (and flashing ones) - very pretty (and, no, I didn't consider the damage the lights were doing to my eyes )

Nelmo, I have to disagree, flags can be noisy at night but so can those plastic type windbreaks. I do occasionally fly a flag or a windsock but it always comes down at night for 2 reasons. Firstly at the quiet of night a flag can be very irritating to neighbours.Secondly there's always a chance the weather can change and if it gets really windy I would not want to be the one to explain why my flag or pole has broken and potentially caused damage to someones gear.

We have a flag pole and put flashin lights around ours..aswell as a few different flags..its just abit of fun thats all..but before we go to bed..we always turn off the lights and if its windy..we drop the flag pole too..
Like Nigel says..if the wind really did get up and the pole snapped..it might cause damage to either ours or our neighbours van....

I have a flag pole which I use to fly a couple of "hippy" style flags from (all in keeping with my image!!)
It's just a bit of fun - seriously need to think about adding some fairy lights though!
I always lower the pole at night or if I leave site as you never know what the weather might do. I wouldn't want to damage mine or my neighbours tents/property.
With regards to noise, my cheap, "plastic" windbreak makes loads more noise than the fabric plags!!
