Hi
Just purchased a bailey Orion 440/4 which has a design oversight. The rear dinette bed is made up with the table top as a base with two seat cusions and two seat back cushions plus a wedge shaped infill piece. This wedge piece keeps sliding off and leaves a gap in the bed base.
Does anyone have a trick to prevent it?
Thanks.

you could try putting a fitted sheet on the made up bed. We havent got an orion but know exactly what cushion you are referring to as we made up the bed when we had a good luck at one. I find the fitted sheets you can buy with elastic all the way round all four sides great on caravan beds.

Yes that might work. Do you know anywhere that supplies a fitted sheet for the corner cut off bed shape?
Thanks.

yes there is a company that supply caravan bedding called Jonic but I believe they are very expensive.

We bought ours from Lidl (they have them a few times a year) and it fitted on the fixed bed (same shape as it had the corner cut off) perfectly due to the elastic all the way round.

We use an ordinary fitted sheet with elastic all the way around (as Savanne suggests), and it fits quite well.  Probably not as good as Jonic, but it's not a bad fit at all.  We got ours from TKMAXX and the shop assistant was so helpful.  Came up to the right section with me and opened up all the packets in order to find the ones with elasic all around.  Have also tried the ones with elasic just at each corner, but personally, I found these poor - about as good as a chocolate fireguard - don't bother with these, IMHO.

Hi - have seen your email  We have the same caravan and the same problem.

We contacted Baileys and after measuring and taking photos they agreed that the wedge was too small for the gap.  They arranged to have a new wedge made to our specification and also sent us a huge roll of velcro to keep the pieces in place.  However, it hasnt really solved the problem of the moving wedges ... so we came up with our own solution...

We made a piece of wood out of plywood (about 4" high) to run upright across the gap from seat to seat. The wood fits between the mattresses and the seat ends to hold it in place.  Hope this makes sense!

Regards

Hi
Thanks for the tip. I had already tried that but was worried that it would distort the two seat sides.
A better method i have found is using a 4 meter buckle strap that wraps around the wedge and two rectangular pieces which should hold it all securely. Have not actually sleept on it yet.

you could try a roll of non slip material (£1) under the V wedge shaped filling.

I have handsewn a hem on the cut off corner for my fixed bed sheet (it already had elastics being a fitted sheet) and put some strong elastic through, pulling it to req'd length and sewing it to fix. Fits perfectly and would certainly hold the piece you're referring to in place!

Hi we have now slept on the bed with the 4 meter buckle strap and it works a treat. £3 form ebay and seconds to put on and remove, it only has to be loosened a bit.

Took the Orion away a couple of weeks ago in the snow. Very happy with it. My only minnor gripe is there is no heater outlet in the front lounge, cool feet.
All the water pipes were frozen when we got there but it was -12deg and they soon thawed out.

We had the same problem.Bailey refused to acknowledge they have a problem. My supplier had a full middle section made to overcome problem. However you can use a thin piece of wood or plastic along front edge of bed, this holds the wedge in place. It is a very annoying fault in construction.Hope this helps.

Ahhh, the bed wedge problem solved.

Just bought an Orion 440-4 and encountered the moving wedge syndrome.

If you move the tapered seat cushion to the centre edge (table top), the wedge fits in nicely on the seat and is retained by the seat edge. Other cushions then fit in the gaps, with the small backrest wedge in the bottom left hand corner.
