Thinking of buying on of these it says on the box suitable for Alko chassis from 1992 on.  Problem is we have a BPW chassis on our Compass 2007 does anyone know if it will fit as you have to bolt the brockets to the chassis?

Hi, I have a BPW chassis on my Elddis and am also looking at getting one of these.

I spoke to the guy from BPW who was on the Elddis stand at the NEC.

He told me that the Kojack Brackets will fit the BPW chassis (the holes for the brackets should be on the chassis near the axle and around 55mm apart). He said he uses one for his own caravan and it is fine.

Thanks audicab, went on their website and it says ok but gives you a link that does not work.  Looking at the scissor type one not the bottle type though, looks quite good and did not realise you could also use them to level you van on site. 

Think I will get one, how much were they at the show?

I have one and the seals on mine leaked it's now in the garden shed with the rest of my impulse buys! They won't necessarily fit if you have shock absorbers fitted either.

I've got one of the bottle type but had similar trouble with leaking seals untill I scrapped the oversprayed paint off of the end of the ram, it seals better now and it's been fine since then.

I have one, the brackets fit on fine with shocks. I had to remove the brackets for the (supplied)  jack. As that is a wind up type I prefer the hydraulic to the al-ko !!

Used it a couple of times to get the spare out for pressure check-no problems.

Clearance Bargains in walsall are selling both scissor and hydraulic types for £27.99. Saw them last Friday.

Not sure if I have done the right thing but I obtained some 3mm thick and 50x25mm square section steel tubing from ebay and drilled holes at 55mm apart and fitted these sections to my caravan chassis as jacking points.

I measured and cut the square section steel so it sticks out below the chassis by about 20mm and jack from there with my own perfectly adequate bottle jack and a improvised 'cup' to fit under the square section and distribute the load.

I fitted them directly using 12mm high tensile steel bolts with nylock nuts. All in costs under £10.

I know there were some good offers for various other lifiting devices around before now but could not find one and did not want to spend £60+ on the alternatives...
