The Government will pay up to the statutory rate (currently £400 per week) on pay in lieu of notice, Redundancy pay, outstanding wages (sorry but I don't know if commision will be paid) and accrued holiday pay. A nominal amount of tax will be deducted from these payments.
If more than 20 people were made redundant without prior notice, they will be entitled to payment for the 90 consultation period - you need to watch this as my husband and his collegues did not get this until several of them went to the Employment Tribunal to claim it.
Hope none of you have to wait too long for your money - we were told that it normally comes through fairly quickly but my husband's was held up because of an HMRC error in recording NI contributions (no surprises there then!)
Good luck in finding new employment - hopefully there may be some seasonal jobs going in retail to tide you over the Christmas period.
