Has anyone noticed the aluminium skin above the front/ loung window on some vans bending in whilst they are being towed? I've seen this on windy days, and some of the vans appear new.
I'm wondering if I'm the only one who has seen it.
Used to notice the large front window on our Bailey Ranger bending as we went down motorway
You could actually see a line the shape of the car roof on the window and there was the same line as a white mark between the double glazing on the van window where it would touch together

Yes, there was a problem with the front windows, they were too "thin". Polyplastic must have replaced thousands under warranty. We had 2 new ones before the problem was solved. Well known fault.

No, I've never noticed it, although after the 2009 scare about the two skins of the window touching and rubbing (we've had ours replaced under warranty), I've always kept an eye on the window. Time to check the bit above next time I'm out. Thanks for the info. Bignose+Jo.
The roof on many vans is not "bonded" like the wall panels, so the outer skin is free to move.
When towing there is a lot of wind pressure up there. And there is a lot of turbulent air hitting the front of the van. It's physics. And not really anything to worry about.
i have seen it once but not sure i remember where, think it was on the A1 and it was coming towards us.the roof was quite distorted over the windows.it was extremely windy that day and kept on blowing my extension mirrors flat to the car. i have seen my window flexing too in the mirror.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
